Record Store Day 2022

Record Store Day 2022 will take place on Saturday 23 April, when over 260 independent record shops across the UK unite to celebrate exclusive vinyl releases and host live events to mark the occasion.

Thousands more shops will celebrate the day around the globe in what has become one of the biggest annual events in the music calendar.

How did Record Store Day start?

The event was created way back in 2007, at a gathering of independent record store owners. Employees wanted a way to celebrate and spread the word about nearly 1400 independently owned record stores in the US and thousands of similar stores internationally.

The first Record Store Day took place on April 19, 2008. Today there are Record Store Day participating stores on every continent except Antarctica!

What releases will be available on the day?

This year there are releases from Taylor Swift, Childish Gambino, Field Music, Blur and more - You can browse the full list of titles here. Please note that there may be delays with some titles due to manufacturing issues. These will be available in June.

What record stores are taking part?

You can search for shops near you, but you should contact the store directly to find out whether they will be carrying the product you are looking for in advance. Stores are not permitted to reserve a product for customers or sell them online until 8pm on Friday 29th April, so you will need to visit the store early on Record Store Day to get your hands on your records!
