The OVO Hydro Turns 12!
30th September 2025
Tonight, as Darius Rucker takes the stage, we mark a special milestone - 12 incredible years since the opening of the OVO Hydro. How is it 12 years already?!
We cannot think of a better way to celebrate tonight than with Darius and our fellow country fans, singing our hearts out to Wagon Wheel.
“So rock me, mama, like a wagon wheel.”
If you’re going along tonight, then get in the mood with this Darius Rucker playlist.
At the OVO Hydro, we’re proud to showcase a wide and wonderful range of events. There really is something for everyone, and looking back at our past Birthdays, we can see this in action. Here we look back at some of our past incredible Birthday events.

Rod Stewart
Sir Rod Stewart opened the OVO Hydro back in 2013 with a run of shows that welcomed Scotland to our new venue. It was an incredible opening night, with the encore being a beautiful combination of ‘Da Ya Think I’m Sexy’ and ‘Auld Lang Syne’. Sir Rod has been a welcome guest over the years, returning in 2016, 2017, 2019, and 2022. We have loved every performance, but the original night was something truly special, seeing all of our teams' hard work pay off as the venue officially opened to the best fans in the world.

I Love the 90s
Back in 2017, this once-in-a-lifetime global tour stopped by the OVO Hydro with a lineup that included Vanilla Ice, Salt N Pepa (with Spinderella), Coolio, Colour Me Badd, Tone Loc, and Young MC. The OVO Hydro was transformed into a Gangsta’s Paradise that night, with that song being a particular highlight. Sadly, it’s not a tour that can be repeated with the line-up of 2017, but the memories will always be there for those in the audience that night.
Take a look back at our Facebook promo for the show for some 90s nostalgia

Kylie
In 2018, the OVO Hydro was filled with “Lovers” for Kylie’s Golden tour. The set was divided into seven distinct acts: Desert Sunrise, The High & Dry, Nothing Behind Me, Everything Ahead of Me, At the Biker Rally, At the Picnic After the Biker Rally, Studio 54 and an encore, The Nashville Rider. With a career like Kylie’s, it’s easy to break it up into mini sets, and she took us all on a Western-style journey. And of course, there were all the hits like Spinning Around, Especially For You and Kids. We always love it when Kylie comes to town and hope to see her soon.

Swedish House Mafia
Swedish House Mafia’s first tour in ten years landed on our birthday, and what a return to Glasgow it was. Their Paradise Again World Tour followed the release of the Paradise Again album and a headline set at Coachella. We mean it when we say that the OVO Hydro was absolutely bouncing for the show.
The tour was massive, and they weren’t going to miss out on a Glasgow crowd. What we also loved about this tour is that they released a live album at the end, so we can always go back and remember some of the total bangers from the night. You can listen to the ‘Paradise Again Live album’ on Spotify.
